SAN DEBATE
The Editor,
Given your insightful analysis as we discuss now the reason why the SAN award should be scrapped, I think it will help if you publish your views as a cover story in the Squib. You know the power of the press as much as I do.
Editor’s Note: Of course I do. May be one of these days, we’ll do publish.

SAN DEBATE
The Editor,
I am convinced that the best thing is for the Senior Advocate of Nigeria to be scrapped otherwise, where do you begin to reform and where will you stop? And what do you about the numbers of those who are now silks but ought not to be in that group at all. Why do we need that title?
Ghana does not have it. America does not and they are much better than us.
If the title is scrapped there will be level playing field and then we will really those who are truly good lawyers and those who are using titles to prop up themselves.
Look at some one like you. You have paid your dues and every body knows that. Nobody deines touch and I can’t compare myself to you. Nobody in the system can deal with you the way they can deal with me.
That is what one calls distinction as it were without being a senior Advocate of Nigeria, you are already enjoying the privileges of a Senior Advocate. While you are well known, having carved a niche for your selves, there are so many anonymous S.A.NS, that needs introduction over and over.
Editor’s Note: Thank you.

RE: ABOLITION OF SAN
The Editor,
As the extra-ordinary meeting called by the Lagos Branch of the NBA to discuss the issue of the abolition of SAN on the 28th January 2010, there was the largest turn out of SAN’s in recent history. From the highly revered Chief G.O.K. Ajayi S.A.N, to former NBA president Chief Wole Olanipekun S.A.N, Chief G.H. Uwechwe S.A.N, Anthony Idigbe S.A.N Prof. Yemi Osinnajo S.A.N, former Attorney-General of Lagos State and his successor, Mr. Supo Shasore S.A.N, Mr. Emeka Ngige, S.A.NB, Chief Theodore Eze-Obi S.A.N, Mr. B.A.M. Fashanu S.A.N, Marke Igbokwe S.A.N, Professor S.A. Adesanya S.A.N, Kemi Pinhero S.A.N, Alade Agbabiaka S.A.N, Aribisala S.A.N and even the new S.A.N like Mr. Dipo Okpeseyi S.A.N. Also impressive in their turn out chairman Lagos NBA, Mr. Chijioke Okoli, Mr. Toyin Pinhero, Mr. Etigwa Uwa, Mr. A.J. Owonikoko, Chief Mike Ozekhome amongst others.
It was obvious that Pa Tunji Gomes and his abolitionists movement have shined the harvests next an dthe silks could no longer sit down arrogantly and condescendingly believing the abolitionist were a bunch of malicious and environs lawyers out to score a cheap point. No, the threat to the highly covered and priviledge-laden SAN is real, clear and present.
It is suggested that whatever legislation is arrived at in respect of the SAN title, whether to abolish same or modify the title in line with present day demands of justice in Nigeria should be appropriately sub-titled Pa Tunji Gomez Law.
Editor’s Note:
Till then

JUSTICE AYO
The Editor,
Is there a perpetual leave for justice W.A.E. Ayo (of the Lagos State High Court) not to ever sit and preside over cases. This judge has not sat for once this year! She just lock up all case-files assigned to her. Whats happening for God’s Sake?
Editor’s Note: We'll look in that direction soon.
